It’s December first, and I’m trying my darndest to get into the holiday spirit. Cards, crafts, baking, PicMonkey collages, the usual.
Despite the best efforts of my happy light, this winter is feeling dark and dismal again. It was perhaps an error to try to write 50,000 words about ghosts and horrors for the November NaNoWriMo challenge. I lost my can-do spirit somewhere between seeing vampires in every corner and trying to find new words to express fearful shadows. Really, there are only so many ways to say “grey”. And when the world around you is misty, cold, and slightly weird already, it starts to feel redundant and more than a little depressing. There really ought to be some kind of product warning at London’s Heathrow Airport: Caution: England May Cause Seasonal Affective Disorder. Have Some Christmas Pudding, It’s Mostly Made Of Rum.
Uplifting, that’s me. So …. ahh …. happy December! Only 21 days until solstice!
