Full circle

4 Oct

Almost exactly a year ago, we were just getting started here in our English adventure.  Last year the first weeks in October were bright, sunny, crisp, the colors sharp, the towns and villages all dressing up for autumn and starting to hint at the promise of winter holidays.  In other words: perfect.

Today was another perfect day, and I found myself walking down through the Promenade in town feeling the same joy of discovery I experienced last year when I stumbled upon an outdoor international food market.

Castles right and left, romantic ruins, ancient churches and stone monuments: all pretty awesome.  But to be honest, there’s really nothing more lovely than walking through market stalls and having a chatty little Bonjour with the vendors, then coming home with fresh bread, fragrant peaches, and a slightly old cheese.  Bon appétit, mes chers amis!
